In Psalm 78: 9, the Bible talks of a tribe in Israel called Ephraim. It says, “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.” They had arms but yet they turned and fled before their enemies. So the reason you are failing is not because of unavailability of weapon or instruments of power, it is because you have failed in your heart. Victory on earth begins with victory in the heart. Until you become victorious in your heart you remain a loser on the earth. In Ephesians 6: 10-20, Apostle Paul admonished Christians to put on the whole Armour of God in order to be able to withstand the devil. But before he began talking about the Armour, in verse 10 he said, “...Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might...” So, you are the number one instrument of power. It is what happens in your inner man that determines your outward result. A weak heart is one of the greatest avenues of power leakage. It takes confidence to be a conqueror because nothing disqualifies you in battle like intimidation. That is why Paul prayed in Ephesians 3: 16 that we may be “strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.” That is what happens in the military setting. After soldiers have been armed and put in their various battalions, ready for the battle field, the commander stands to charge them with encouraging words. They become so charged that they feel like seeing the enemy and shooting right away. No gun is as strong as a man’s heart. Many businesses are crumbling not because of economic pressure or hard competition but because of weak hearts. You must first be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might and after that you put on the whole Armour of God before you can win. Armoury minus inner strength is a weight. The reason many pray without answer is because they lack confidence.
Galatians 5: 1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free...” Your enemy is not as powerful as you think; you are the one not standing as fast as you should.
You must condition your heart for power because in Deuteronomy 20: 1 God’s word says, “When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies...” Note that God did not say “If thou goest out for battle...” but “when”. So fighting in life is not optional. Even if you don’t want to fight, there is a devil that wants to fight you and if you refuse to fight it makes it easier for him to rub your nose on the ground. There is nothing like safe ground in life, every ground is battle ground. You go from one trail to the other and in the midst of battle you don’t ask, ‘Why are they shooting me?’ You shoot back! God knows you will face oppositions, that was why He said, “Resist the devil...” You can’t expect to triumph when you detest trials. The reason God gives us power is because we need to subdue the enemy under our feet. If there were no enemies to subdue, there would not be need for power.
Beginning from today, I see you subduing every force of darkness against your destiny in Jesus Name. Shalom!
