You are either growing up or you are groaning under! Those who refuse to grow will groan. The choice is yours, either to grow or to groan. You grow today or groan tomorrow! Growth is a necessity not a choice and the challenge of growth is stretch and change; that is the total sum of growth. Change, stretch! Mediocre wonders why they are so stretched, they are stretching us too much, work! work!! work!!! He’s complaining today, he will groan tomorrow. Watch him he will groan tomorrow, but mature workers will always stretch, will be prepared for a change. If you don’t stretch you can’t assume new height. In science for example, in the subject of elasticity, you cannot see a new height or a new length without a stretch. When you see an object stretched, it is to assume a new length. You can’t assume your new phase in life except you stretch for it. That’s why you don’t wait to grow, you stretch to grow! You change to grow. So when you see changes it’s an indication of the growth that is about to take place.
Those who hate changes will never grow. So when they change you, it’s for your growth. When they say, “move to that office” it’s for your growth, if you don’t move you will groan tomorrow. Growth will always place a demand of stretch on you. Grow today to escape groaning tomorrow. Those who don’t grow up will groan under. Those who don’t run ahead will be left behind. I beg you grow.
The clear indicator, clear pacesetter of growth is change. So when you see changes, don’t react. I have noticed that no system, spiritual or secular, can see a future without the dynamism of growth. I read a bit about Bill Gates. He was a man of change. Many want to have that kind of success but they are not prepared for change. Change of schedule, time, and approach. That sometimes makes you inconsistent. As a matter of fact people who grow are simply inconsistent. You have to be inconsistent. If I find you tomorrow where I found you today then you have not grown, that means you have been consistent, consistently there. The only thing that should be consistent with a believer is his character but for approach, for method, there should be no consistency. His behaviour should be consistent, his integrity should be consistent but when it comes to approach to work, introducing innovations, creativity, he should never, ever be consistent. Every system that has advanced is constantly introducing new approach. Dynamism, check it very well, people who sell in the market, if you are not dynamic your goods will become stale. You have to be dynamic. Always respond to change.
Often, changes are tests for us but unfortunately many people fail because they are not sensitive to their moments and seasons. You will grow this year financially, spiritually, socially, materially and in all good wise in Jesus name.
Growth is what you prepare for through personal development. We maintain fitness as we develop ourselves for great tasks ahead of us. Our fitness sets pace for our opportunities. Only mediocre wait for promotion! Mature workers will always prepare for their opportunities. There’s a lot of difference between the two, mediocre, are praying for promotion, matured workers are preparing for promotion. You don’t need more than one opportunity to be promoted. Joseph didn’t have more than one; Daniel didn’t have more than one, David also. One opportunity is enough for a lifetime. When your opportunity comes how does it meet you? Is it meeting you prepared or meeting you unprepared? That determines your next phase in life. So prepare yourself, maintain fitness. You don’t know when you will be asked to do something. What will be the result? What will be your presentation? One opportunity is enough for a lifetime; you don’t have a second chance to make the first impression, so live prepared. I like to challenge every one of you today to get back and develop yourself in your area of assignment, in your field of endeavour. Prepare yourself! No organization celebrates presence; every organization celebrates productivity, input, and contribution. In whatever assignment you are given make sure that your input matches expectation.
A few years ago there was a crash in Japan, their national airline crashed about 500 people were killed. All the top management resigned, they said we accept responsibility before the result of the findings as to what caused the crash came out. They resigned. As a matter of fact one of them committed suicide in a bid to accept responsibility. Any time your input is not matching the expectation of the organization you should resign.
